Buddyapos;s visit with the new vet went really well. Everyone fussed over him and the attention hog ate it up He let them clip his nails with no problems and let the vet handle his feet (picture surprise on my face at that one-- he hates to have strangers handle his feet) and went with them quietly and without acting like a furry anchor to get weighed and measured. Vet agrees he can do all Buddy needs doing while under anesthesia in one go: remove mole on top of foot, teeth cleaning, full body x-rays, and remove his front dew claws*. Heapos;d only be under as long as it took to do the teeth cleaning and get the x-rays apos;cause the mole and dew claws can be done by the vet while the dental tech is doing the cleaning.

*We discussed the pros and cons of having the dew claws removed but heapos;s scratched me now a couple of times-- not on purpose-- and Iapos;m just afraid he might accidentally snag someone in one of the nursing homes. Or even worse-- one of the kids. Buddy will just have to take a week off volunteering to recover but it shouldnapos;t be a big deal. He mends quickly.

And weapos;re doing the right thing with the Metacam for his arthritis. Weapos;ll just do liver enzyme checks every six months to make sure there are no adverse reactions to the medication.
